A challenge for Viabuild on the site of Brussels Airport: the demolition of Block 4, located next to the Sky Hall built for Expo 58. The demolition of Block 4 was carried out at the same time as the renovation of the Sky Hall. Because the current departure hall is adjacent to Block 4, the Demolition Works department put all its expertise and experience into working on this complex assignment with great care and precision. An additional challenge: the dust produced needed to be kept to an absolute minimum during demolition, due to the proximity of the airport runways. Working at the airport is not an obvious thing to do. Safety measures were tightened after 22 March 2016.

This resulted in extensive access control to the site. At each entrance and exit, the Viabuild vehicles and the team had to be checked thoroughly. The demolition project was successfully completed within the planned period of 4 months, without causing any problems to the daily operations at Brussels Airport, or the neighbouring sites.
